Meet Rodrigo Mattioli

Meet The Artist - Rodrigo Mattioli.png

In our award-winning story, “Un árbol’”, Brazilian artist Rodrigo Mattioli tells the tale of Alina, a young girl who decides to plant a tree. A small decision with amazing and unimaginable consequences!

Last year, this story was awarded the highly prestigious “Premio Apila”. (One of FabuLingua’s favorite prizes!)

@rodrigomattioli_ is as playful and curious as his characters. He’s been experimenting for years with mixed media: sculpture, digital design, photography and drawing. And when he became a father, his work turned to writing and illustrating children’s books.

Mattioli spent many years living in London, but his passion for permaculture made him trade the city life for a more natural environment. This experience made him reflect on the positive impact humans can have on their environment, and inspired him to write “Un árbol”. His wish is that, by the end of this story, children feel motivated to go plant a tree!

We really like the colorful collage-style of Mattioli’s illustrations, and are sure your family will love them too!

Edu and Raquel are the professors behind Apila Ediciones, a publishing house that specializes in beautiful children’s books meant to delight big and small through their topics and exquisite illustrations.

They published our story “Un Árbol”, that was recently launched on our app, and won the most recent Apila award!

We are admirers of Apila's work and their unique and inspiring mission to identify and support new talented illustrators, and provide a platform to kickstart their careers!
